At Startle, we’re constantly developing innovative new features, adding quality of life changes and optimising processes to ensure we’re giving our customers an excellent service that adapts to their needs.
We’re currently finalising one of our biggest developments to date, which our team have spent months planning, building and fine tuning before its launch! But before we announce that early next year, we decided to share a few of the other developments we’ve been working on this Autumn...
Wifi & Audio Integration
Recently, we had the opportunity to put into practice some of our newest technology at Restaurant Tech Live in London - a large event celebrating the best of innovation in the industry. We know that both retail and hospitality brands are constantly looking for new ways to personalise the in-venue experience for their customers, so we’ve created a solution that integrates with a Wifi network to deliver music tailored to customers’ preferences.
When a visitor joins the Wifi network at a venue, we capture information regarding their music preference - in this case, their favourite artist. We’re then able to use their presence on the Wifi network to trigger a call to our Startle Music solution that will then add songs into the venue’s background music queue based on the visitor’s preferences, so they’ll enjoy a personalised audio experience not only on their first connection to wifi, but whenever they connect in future! This can also work for chains, so even if a customer visits a different location of their favourite pub or retail chain, their favourite music will still be triggered to play.
At the Restaurant Tech Live event, we were able to couple this technology with our digital signage solution, Startle Display, so the screen at the venue showed what music is playing - and in the cases of Wifi triggered music, display who the music was selected for. These displays can also show both the recently played and upcoming songs, so visitors can almost instantly see a song chosen for them added to the upcoming music queue.
The event proved to be a fantastic success and this proof of concept opens the door for Startle to continue developing intelligent music selection based on customer demographics and individuals - enabling us to continue providing retail and hospitality brands with customisable experiences.
New Digital Signage Features
Startle Display is now in full swing following its recent release, and we’ve had great feedback from users on both what they love and what they’d like to see added. Learning how our customers would like more help in creating engaging displays recently led to the release of our newest digital signage feature, AdFrame.
AdFrame provides Startle Display users with new L-shaped signage and extra functionality that enables them to automatically display full-screen ads, TV and overlaid promotions as scheduled, or at the click of a button on their smartphone.
With the option to easily switch between these, users can leverage the TV feed to adjust their displays according to what’s on at the time - resulting in more effective advertising and communication. This also provides a great way to ensure content doesn’t become too repetitive. After all, our eyes are drawn to dynamic content, so regularly refreshing and varying displays will ensure venues retain their customers’ interest.
Live Support Chat
At Startle, our UK and US-based support teams have a great track record of responding to, and resolving, support enquiries quickly. Until recently, our customers could get in touch with us via phone or email, but to ensure we’re resolving customer queries even faster, we’ve now integrated a new piece of software within our customer control panel that enables instant, live chat! Now, customers with questions, or even general feedback, can simply pop open the text chat and start typing away.
So far, the results from this have been fantastic and our average response time over the last month has been under 10 minutes! This has been widely appreciated by those that we’ve spoken to and our chat ratings are showing very positive results.
As well as this, we’ve added new helpful support videos and guides to our support site, so customers can get more helpful advice and tips than ever! And to provide peace of mind that everything with the Startle platform is working smoothly, customers from all territories can now visit a status page to confirm that it’s all up and running. If we do happen to experience the odd network failure, customers can keep updated with what’s going on by visiting this link. If an individual site is experiencing any issues with their system, using our status page will also help to investigate where the problem lies, providing a faster and more efficient resolution.
